About the SimDay: Over 95 simulation users attended the Southern Regional SimDay. The SimDay was designed to boost simulation skills and deepen the knowledge of how to integrate simulation into curriculum. With this conference, we strengthened the conversation surrounding healthcare simulation, as we explored a new world of fast changing and innovative solutions for improving the quality of care by "improving the way healthcare learns”.
The event was held at The University of Alabama in the The Capstone College of Nursing. The building was completed in the Summer of 2010 and sits across from Tuscaloosa’s DCH Regional Medical Center and near the University Medical Center. It is UA’s first building specifically designed for nursing instruction. The 64,000 square foot facility contains a 148-seat auditorium, 3 large classrooms, a computer lab, a 34-bed clinical practice lab, 2 quiet study rooms, a student lounge area and administrative offices for faculty and staff. The Simulation Center for Clinical Excellence, located on the second floor, has six patient simulation rooms containing seven high-fidelity simulators with adjoining control and observation rooms as well as a reception and waiting area.
